Grazie Luca per le segnalazioni, preziose come al solito! Ho ascoltato con attenzione e particolare piacere quattro artisti che non conoscevo proprio:
1. KASHUS CULPEPPER: musicista di colore nonostante si destreggi (molto bene) tra il Southern country-rock e l'Outlaw country, dalle parti dei più noti (e bianchi) Nathaniel Rateliff, Ryan Bingham, Chris Stapleton, Anderson East, The Teskey Brothers. Il mio voto è 7.8 e le mie canzoni preferite: Southern Man, In Her Eyes, Believe, After Me?
2. MON ROVIA: altro cantautore sconosciuto che si esprime con un Folk-pop acustico che richiama alcuni beniamini del blog come Amos Lee, Jack Johnson, Josh Rouse, John Mayer, Mason Jennings, Ben Harper... Anche Mon Rovia si merita un 7.8. I miei brani preferiti: Black Cauldron, Running Boy, Somewhere Down In Georgia
3. RAYE: ed eccoci all'artista che mi ha suscitato la maggiore curiosità, in virtù delle 5 stelle che le hai assegnato, anch'essa a me ignota finora. Personalità e voce strepitose, arrangiamenti ed esecuzione impeccabili, ma non proprio centrata sui miei generi/sottogeneri prediletti: spettacolare quando si esibisce in R&B orchestrali (e non rétro), ma per i miei gusti trascurabile quando affronta il genere dance-pop più modaiolo e già ampiamente visitato da Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson... Bellissimo il titolo dell'album! Complessivamente si merita anche lei un bel 7.8, e ho apprezzato particolarmente le tracks I Know You’re Hurting, Nightingale Lane, Click Clack Symphony.
4. TOM MISCH: forse il meno sconosciuto (quantomeno in Italia) tra i 4 musicisti di cui sto parlando, un singer-songwriter leggero ma raffinato tanto da evocare a tratti il soft-rock dei '70 o il soffio di J.J. Cale, ma anche i più moderni John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Terry Callier, Anderson .Paak, Chris Rea. In pagella si becca un 7.7, e gli spunti più apprezzati sono Echo From The Flames, Sisters With Me, Goldie.
Caro Luca, devo trovare il tempo per ascoltare tutte le altre tue proposte.
